Dear members
In order to ensure that everyone is informed during this fast-moving situation, we wanted to update you regularly when we got more information. If you missed it, we issued an update yesterday evening following the government press conference and updated advice from Swim England – this is available via email and Facebook.
The government’s detailed social distancing advice is available here for you to view here: Guidance on social distancing for everyone in the UK and protecting older people and vulnerable adults
In light of this, the Swim England advice from 16/3 stated that some events were being cancelled, inter-club events may be cancelled but that they saw no reason for clubs not to continue with their training programmes. We will let you know if this changes.
We want to assure you that the health and safety of our members, parents/carers, coaches and volunteers is extremely important. We have considered government and national governing body guidelines throughout this challenging situation in order to keep everyone safe. We cannot tell individual members what they should do, but we can explain the steps the club has taken in this situation. In light of this, each member will need to make their own decisions about whether to attend sessions or not.
Your committee has spoken again with Swim England directly at 8.30am today and they confirmed that their Executive is meeting later today and will consider whether their advice should be updated. We will subsequently provide an update to all our members.
If the overall club situation changes or any further information we receive indicates that the club will take a different decision, we will update you immediately.
If you have any individual or specific concerns, then please contact us directly on sittingbourne@swimclubmanager.co.uk
Thank-you for your support during this difficult time
