8th Aug 2020:
Firstly, your club coaches and committee would like to thank you all for your patience as we have navigated these difficult few months. We finally have some good news we can begin swimming again this week, albeit very different to how it was, so we ask for your continued patience as we carefully, and safely, start to swim again.
Following comprehensive discussions with different venues, changes to operating procedures and assurances that the club can operate in a Covid-secure way, we are able to announce a phased-return to swimming in specific venues for limited time slots.
We have worked hard to secure swimming sessions at Sheerness (Monday evening) and Maidstone (Wednesday and Sunday evening). Unfortunately due to limited pools and space available to us we can only offer sessions to Gold Squad and above at the moment, we will let TP, Bay, Bronze and Silver know when we are able to offer them sessions. We thank all those who have completed the survey saying they would like to return, we are hoping to accommodate more swimmers from September when more pool opportunities are open to us.
Swimmers in smaller ‘bubbles’ will be given specific slot(s) to attend and a precise arrival/departure time to maintain social distancing. We will be contacting each member of the squads separately with details of dates, timings and procedures shortly.
There are a number of key documents that we have produced and will make available very soon – we need all members and parents to read (and in some cases return to us) before attending any swimming session:
- New Covid club procedures (two versions – one for swimmers & parents and one for coaches & volunteers)
- Return to training declaration – to confirm that you are, and will continue to be, safe to return to swimming
- Health survey – showing what you need to be aware of in terms of swimmer’s health
- Covid risk assessment showing the way in which the club intends to return to swimming safely and protect everyone involved
- Two videos of the different venues to describe safe passage through the venue as you enter and exit the venue
Returning to swimming will be very different for everyone, but the health and safety of everyone involved in our club, and the wider public, remains our key priority at this challenging time. For this reason, the club reserves the right to change arrangements (at short notice if necessary).
As explained before the closure, because fees were suspended when swimming stopped in the middle of March, we committed to only reinstating fees in the next full month of swimming so, for the time being, fees will continue to be suspended for August.
Thank you again for your understanding & if you have any questions, please email and we will attempt to answer your queries in the best way we can.
